Per diem rates in the Netherlands, 2026

In the Netherlands, it is not common to pay per diems; instead, expenses are reimbursed based on receipts. In Bezala, a “Day fee” expense type can be created for such costs, with a daily limit set.

However, it is also possible to pay a per diem in the country to cover costs related to meals, accommodation, and minor expenses during a business trip.

To be eligible for accommodation cost reimbursement, the following conditions must be met:

• The business trip lasts at least 4 hours, and
• The destination is in another municipality or at least one kilometer away from your workplace.

The per diem consists of separate components per travel day. For example, you may receive €7.02 for expenses incurred during the day, and a separate amount is defined for the evening if the trip includes an overnight stay.

Exact amounts can be found on the website of the Dutch central government’s collective labor agreement (CAO Rijk).

You cannot claim Dutch per diems through Bezala.

The mileage allowance rate in the Netherlands is 0,25€ per kilometer.
